I've been working on this list for the past two weeks and I'm proud to unveil it to you now. Lil man and I have been busy crafting, as you can see. We hope this list inspires you! The possibilities are endless this time of year!
1. This one is pretty easy. I took some gingerbread foam cutouts (Thank you Michaels) and let lil man decorate them with glue & random punches/jewels/tissue paper.
2. Marble Art Christmas Tress. Grab an old shoebox, paint and marbles. Do some cutouts (whatever you desire but we had pre-cut Christmas trees) Use some tape to tape down your cutouts to the box. Once that is done, squirt some paint in the box and throw your marbles in. Hand over the box to your child and let them roll the marbles through the paint. The marbles will move the paint all over the cutouts, creating a design.
3. Cotton Ball Santa. Grab some cotton balls and glue them to a face cutout to make a Santa. Don't forget to add cotton balls to his hat too.
4. We did this craft for fall too. Check out the tutorial HERE and modify it to be Christmas ornaments instead of pumpkins.
5. This was a family affair but it fits nicely in with the toddler crafts. It's definitely toddler friendly. Put white paint on your finger and press it on the ornament. Then paint some embellishments on to create your snowmen. This craft doesn't have to be on an ornament. You can also do this on cardstock that you frame or even a canvas.
6. For this craft you need three popsicle sticks, a red pom-pom, gold pipe cleaner, brown cardstock and glue. First glue your popsicle sticks into a triangle. Then, using your new triangle, trace out another triangle to glue to the back. Add a red pom-pom, pipe-cleaners as antlers and cut out some eyes.
7. Take some ice cream cones and decorate with food-colored frosting. Don't forget the decorations!
8. Let your child decorate their own tree this year. Just cut various shapes out of felt for ornaments and lay them on a tree cut out of felt. It's the no mess & child proof Christmas tree.
9. Cut various pieces of cardstock out to resemble a snowman. (including the puddle) Then let your child arrange them on a piece of paper, any way they want.
10. Dip q-tips in paint and dab on Christmas Tree cutout.
11. Mix 1/2 cup white glue with 1/2 cup shaving cream in a small bowl.
Then allow your child to paint on paper with it.
Let it dry overnight. Come morning, the paint will have dried into a foamy/bumpy texture.
12. Cut squares out of white tissue paper and place in a bowl.
Then cover a white paper plate with glue. Allow your child to place the white tissue paper all over the paper.
Pat it down to make sure everything is glued down.
Once dry, add some features to make it into a snowman.
13. First trace your child's hands out. Cut them out to staple to a toilet paper roll as antlers. Then add embellishments to make it look like a reindeer.
14. Gather some white frosting and large marshmallows. Allow your child to build a snowman and then enjoy eating it afterwards.
15. Trace & cut your child's handprints out. Grab a picture and attach the handprints as antlers.
Don't forget the red pom-pom for the nose!
16. Take an aluminum pan and cover the bottom with shaving cream.
Add some drops of food coloring. Take a stick or knife and spread the colors around making a marble effect. Cut out squares to resemble presents. Dip them in the marble art.
Take a clean paper towel and pat off the excess shaving cream.
Let dry overnight. Once dry, add embellishments to make them look like presents.
17. This isn't Christmas related, but I wanted to share a craft lil man made for his grandma.
We turned his handprint into a horse, but I have seen peple turn these into reindeers.
18. Make a whole bunch of assorted circle punches in shades of green.
Let your child arrange/glue them into a tree shape.
To display, use a clothespin.
Cut out a penguin shape out of black construction paper.
Then add some white paint to a plate and hand over a paint brush to your child.
Tell them to only paint the middle part. Once they are done, add embellishments to create the look of a penguin.
20. Last but not least, Salt Dough Ornaments
Mix together 1/2 cup salt, 1/2 flour and 1/4 cup water (give or take)
Kneed until dough forms. Cut out designs with cookie cutters or free style it. Don't forget to poke a hole for hanging.
Bake at 100c/200f for 3 hours. Let cool and decorate with paint.
Be sure to write dates on the back of the ornaments so you remember the year you made them.
